ARCHIBALD PRIZE 2012

The Archibald Prize is an annual exhibition eagerly anticipated by artists and audiences alike. It never ceases to create lively debate amongst the arts community and wider public. First awarded in 1921, The Archibald Prize is one of Australia’s oldest and most prestigious art prizes. It is awarded to the best portrait painting, preferentially of a man or woman distinguished in art, letters, science or politics.  The Archibald Prize is an Art Gallery of NSW exhibition toured by Museums and Galleries NSW.
